What to See and Do at the Southwest Nationals
The show grounds are packed all weekend. Here are the highlights worth building your day around.
- 3,000+ Hot Rods, Customs and Classic Trucks: Rows of 1999-and-older hot rods, muscle cars, customs, trick trucks, and more fill WestWorld. Bring comfortable shoes and take your time; this is the heart of the show.
- The Goodguys 2026 Top 12, All in One Place: This is the only event where every Goodguys 2026 “Top 12” car and truck of the year is displayed together, live and in person, for the first time.
- AutoCross Racing and the Year-End Shootout: Watch timed road course racing all weekend. On Saturday afternoon, the season-ending “Duel in the Desert” and “King of the Desert” shootout finals crown the year’s top drivers. If you only catch one race, make it this one.
- Nitro Thunderfest, Jet Car and Drifting: The Goodguys Nitro Thunderfest brings ground-shaking runs from vintage dragsters and nitro-burning hot rods. Add a Top Secret Jet Car and a drifting exhibition, and earplugs start to sound like a smart idea.
- Arizona’s Largest Automotive Swap Meet and Cars 4 Sale Corral: Hunt for parts, memorabilia, and rare finds, or browse the Cars 4 Sale Corral if you’re shopping for your next project.
- Vendor Midway and Live Music: Stroll the Commercial Vendor and Manufacturers Midway for the latest products, then grab a bite and enjoy live music between exhibitions.
- Squarebody Syndicate GM Truck Get-Together: Fans of classic GM squarebody trucks will find a whole gathering dedicated to them.
- Builder’s Choice Awards: See which builds earn Builder’s Choice honors, selected by Hill’s Hot Rods.
- Meguiar’s All American Sunday: On Sunday, the show opens to American-made or American-powered cars and trucks of all years, so expect a fresh mix of vehicles on the final day.

Is the Goodguys Southwest Nationals Family-Friendly?
Yes. Kids 6 and under get in free, and there’s plenty to keep little ones busy between rows of cars.
- Auto World Free Family Fun Zone: Includes a Model Car Make N Take, where kids can build their own model car (while supplies last).
- Photos with Santa: Stop by the Goodgals Holiday Arts & Crafts Gallery to meet Santa Claus and snap a holiday photo. The gallery also features handmade gifts, so it’s a great spot to get a head start on holiday shopping.
- Model Car Show: Browse detailed model and pedal cars on display.
- Enter your own model or pedal car: Bring it to the Model/Pedal Car booth on Friday or Saturday morning. Entry is free, and you’ll get a pass to pick it up on Sunday at 1 p.m.
What Can You Bring to the Goodguys Southwest Nationals?
Goodguys keeps its entry policy simple: pack light and leave the glass at home.
Bring: A backpack, folding chairs or a blanket, sunscreen and comfortable shoes. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome in a soft cooler or bag.
Leave at home: Pets (service dogs are welcome), glass, hard-shell coolers, alcohol, tents, drones, and bikes or scooters.

Tips for Making the Most of Your Visit
- Arrive early. Gates open at 8 a.m., and morning is the best time to walk the show field before crowds and afternoon sun pick up.
- Save Saturday afternoon for racing. That’s when the AutoCross “Duel in the Desert” and “King of the Desert” finals take place.
- Dress in layers. Late November in Scottsdale usually means mild, sunny days and cool mornings and evenings.
- Bring cash and a bag. Swap meet sellers and vendors make it easy to go home with more than you planned.
- Visit Sunday for something different. Meguiar’s All American Sunday brings American-made and American-powered vehicles of all years. Just note the show closes earlier, at 3 p.m.
